Climates of Australia

Climates of Australia

The continent of Australia has the following five climatic zones:

Equatorial climate

This type of climate is found in the north-eastern tip of the Australian continent. The climate is warm all year round with heavy rainfall evenly distributed every month of the year and high throughout the year relative humidity. The weather is very trying indeed. Since the season of summer, the weather is a bit monotonous.

Tropical

This type is found in the northwest and northeast of Australia. Winters are cool and dry while summers are hot and humid. This part of Australia also receives monsoon rains in the summer. Summer in Australia is from November to March ie opposite to that of the continents of the Northern Hemisphere.

Desert Climate

This type of climate is found in central Australia. Summers are hot and dry while winters are cold and dry. Rainfall over this area is less than 10 inches (250 mm) per year. Due to low rainfall and brush scrub is to be seen and there is no sign of trees for miles together.

Mediterranean climate

This type of climate is found in the south-western part of Australia. As its name suggests, it looks like the time found in areas near the Mediterranean Sea in the northern hemisphere. Winters are cold and wet and summers are hot and very dry indeed.

Temperate

The climate is in the south-east of the Australian mainland and the island of Tasmania. This type of climate zone has no extreme temperatures. Cold winters and hot summers. Rainfall is uniform throughout the year. The weather is the most pleasant climate throughout Australia. The famous city of Sydney is located in this climate zone.

It is, in short, an overview of the different climates that exist on the Australian continent
